Before You Go: Know the Rules of the Road

Experience the Wakhan as a guest of its people. You’ll stay in a mix of basic hotels, local guesthouses, and our own expedition tents-twin rooms, with upgrades to private rooms available for an extra cost. Each night directly supports families and communities along the corridor, helping sustain local livelihoods and traditions.

2. Basic Facilities

This is one of the world’s last frontiers. Expect simple squat toilets, occasional solar showers, and rustic camp setups. Sanitation varies by location-bring wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and your sense of adventure.

3. High Altitude Challenges

We cross mountain passes up to 4,000 meters, where the air is thin and the scenery is raw. Our route is designed for gradual acclimatization, but you’ll need basic fitness and a readiness for unpredictable mountain weather. If you feel unwell, our guides are trained to help-safety comes first.

4. Safe & Hearty Meals

We balance authenticity and hygiene: meals are a mix of dishes prepared by your guide and carefully chosen local restaurants. We avoid risky street food and use fresh, clean ingredients. Dietary needs? Let us know in advance so we can accommodate you.

5. Rugged Transport

Travel in the legendary UAZ 452 Combi expedition, just pure off-road capability. The journey is as much about the ride as the destination, with river crossings, rocky tracks, and endless mountain views.
